In Berlin recently I smiled to see a Bier-Bike: a human-powered vehicle that was wending its way through the former Cold War no-man's land of Potsdamer Platz
(www.bierbike-dresden.de). It had one sober driver steering 12 hops-soaked passengers, all heartily singing, drinking and pedaling away. The contraption rolled merrily along at
walking speed with no engine and no gas tank--just a barrel of beer perched on the front. Adrift in a sea of greenhouse gas spewing cars, buses and trucks it was brilliantly ironic, funny and green.
